Smaller Hotels and B&Bs are usually family run businesses which don’t have a marketing executive within the business. We run through some marketing tips for small Hotels and Bed and Breakfasts…
Website, SEO and Photographs
Your website should show guests what you provide / offer, local attractions, provide easy contact to call or email as well as being mobile friendly. Those are the bare minimum requirements we always tell our clients. Websites should also have SEO when being designed or built (we don’t provide SEO as a standalone service). Great photographs are also key in marketing online or offline, it will show your hotel or bed and breakfast – showing the rooms, communal areas as well as the views, location and exterior.
Social Media Marketing
Make sure your social media channels are fully optimised with up-to-date information, website links, contact details and keep them consistent with each other. Suggested social media channels include: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram to provide a wide social media marketing demographic.
Review Sites & Holiday Listing Sites
Maximise your presence by using popular review sites for accommodation – we recommend using only one review site so that you can keep an eye on reviews and reply where needed. This is also a great way to improve your hotel or B&B from comments that guests have left.
Holiday Listings are sometimes free or paid – these provide you with another opportunity to get your hotel or B&B seen by another type of audience!
If you are within a town, near a road or off the beaten track, your Hotel or B&B should have prominent signage which is smart and presents your business.
Printed “Offline” Marketing
Printed marketing still has its place! Make sure you have business cards / flyers / postcards / brochures that guests can take with them. If they have a great time – they will want to tell all of their friends and family!
